UBF Consulting announces the launch of its Health Management Program aimed at workforce wellness by promoting a healthy lifestyle.
UBF’s Health Management Program is an exciting addition to our existing top notch employee benefits service and human resources consulting. The Health Management Program centralizes much sought after, science based, information and tools such as health education, Health Risk Assessments and Wellness Challenges. It also offers a library of wellness tips available 24/7.
The program has three options:
- Turnkey Digital Health Education: introduces a wellness culture with monthly employer focused posters and newsletters, in addition to weekly articles by health industry experts
- Employee Engagement: engages employees with weekly emails and includes options for a Health Risk Assessment and Wellness Challenges
- Strategic, Data Driven, Goal Oriented: targets the top five organizational health risks and pairs it with a customized health management program aimed at improving employee health, while simultaneously reducing claims and creating a dynamic workforce
“Organizations can no longer wait until employees and their family members become sick. That approach is like waiting for manufacturing defects to occur and then trying to fix them. The economic and human capital value appears as we start to view health as vitality and energy. Keeping the healthy people healthy adds value on both sides of the economic equation: lower disease costs can increase productivity gains,” said Dee Edington, author of Zero Trend.
Edington adds that the total value of health is more than the cost of being sick. “It is the sum of the cost of doctor’s visits, hospital stays, pharmaceuticals, absences, short-term disabilities, long-term disabilities, workers’ compensation, and effectiveness while on the job and the person’s impact on others in the organization.”
Investing in employee wellness programs can reduce health care costs and encourage a lower insurance premium, if implemented effectively to the entire group, as opposed to rescuing individuals, one at a time, when sick. Edington suggests we redefine health as energy and vitality, not just the absence of illness.
